Dr Murray Heasley and Darryl Smith discuss sexual abuse within the church and the lifelong impact of this kind of trauma.
Daryl was abused by a clergy member at age seven. His parents didn't believe him and he carried his story alone until his late-thirties, with a lifetime of trauma; drugs, alcohol and getting in trouble with the law until then.
Murray leads The Network of Survivors of Abuse in Faith-based Institutions and Their Supporters , supporting those who have suffered sexual abuse in the church.
Darryl and Murray have worked with survivors of abuse from around the world and speak to Hamish Williams and psychotherapist Kyle MacDonald about challenging the belief that strong males don't talk about this kind of stuff.
