Verna McFelin's husband was charged and convicted of crime and sent to prison unexpectedly. While Verna was moving through the passage of holding her family together without their father present and simultaneously supporting her husband while behind bars, Verna had a life-changing experience and heard what she describes as the “voice of god”. This moment inspired her to begin Pillars, an organisation that supports women and their families while their partners are in jail. Vera authored "The invisible sentence”, a book that tells her story of surviving through the poverty and injustices inherent in the circumstances she was suddenly faced with.
She shares with Hamish Coleman-Ross and psychotherapist Kyle MacDonald.
