Mental Health in the Construction World

Mental Health in the Construction World

One tradie in the construction industry in New Zealand dies by suicide every week. Working in construction since he was 16, Alan Farragher began to realise the importance of open conversations in the workplace. He found that creating this space for his workers to share what was going on for them, not only helped them feel better, but also their productivity naturally increased.

Alan has since developed a Social impact workwear brand, Diamond Workwear; A very unique high-vis shirt that starts conversations and get people talking about mental health on the worksite.

He talks to Hamish Williams and psychotherapist Kyle MacDonald about fostering connection in the workplace for good mental health.
