As survivors of male sexual abuse, Ken and Rewi have each walked different long paths to recovery and mental wellbeing. Ken’s depression and hostility to the world was a symptom of his private turmoil, but years later he has gone on to found The Survivors of Male Sexual Abuse Trust. survivor.org.nz
Ken’s purpose is for the trust to give voice to men about their unspoken issues that has kept many in cages of silence and shame. Through his work he met Rewi, a young man tortured by abuse from within his own family who has himself faced his demons and now calls on his experience to help others.
